Cinema.  Rotterdam, 27/01/2016

The Rotterdam International Film Festival, held from 27th January to 7th February, has chosen three Catalan films to be included in the programme. The festival is also presenting a retrospective dedicated to the filmmaker Pere Portabella and the School of Barcelona, which includes the showing of 20 films adhering to that movement and a master class by Portabella himself.

The Catalan programme that can be seen this year at the festival is as follows: Oleg y las raras artes (Oleg and the Strange Arts, 2015), by Andrés Duque; La academia de las musas (The Academy of the Muses, 2015), by José Luis Guerín, and Informe General II. El rapto de Europa (General Report II: The Abduction of Europe, 2015), by Pere Portabella.

Twenty films will be screened, by both Portabella and other directors in the movement, such as Jacinto Esteva, Gonzalo Suárez and José María Nunes, in the showcase Pere Portabella and the School of Barcelona. Portabella and his fellow film director and critic Esteve Riambau will be present at the retrospective.

Rotterdam is one of the five most important film festivals in Europe, along with Cannes, Venice, Berlin and Locarno
