- Patrick Mahomes' unreal praise for legendary quarterback best-ever NFL single season
- Ravens work out former All-Pro defensive end -- can he improve Baltimore's pass defense?
The Detroit Lions' running back decisions during this offseason seem to be reaping benefits. After a shocking choice of Jahmyr Gibbs as the 12th overall pick and parting ways with both D'Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams, Gibbs appears to be making a mark in camp.
Lions' General Manager Brad Holmes has already sung praises of Gibbs. He's drawn parallels between the rookie and some of the game's greats, including the San Francisco 49ers' All-Pro Christian McCaffrey and the legendary Marshall Faulk. Gibbs certainly has massive boots to fill, but his proficiency as both a runner and a receiver provides a hint as to why he's being held in such high regard.
Fantasy managers, take note
Highlighting Gibbs' prowess as a dual-threat, a recent joint practice session with the New York Giants provided a a viral moment for the rookie RB. Facing Giants linebacker Bobby Okereke, Gibbs showcased his explosiveness and speed. After a quick sidestep, he blasted past Okereke, catching a pass on the right flank so swiftly that he practically vanished from the camera's view and sending Twitter into a frenzy. Fantasy football managers around will be eager at the prospect of being able to snag Gibbs already showcasing his pass-catching potential.
Given his potential, opposing teams are bound to take note. Defensive coordinators are likely to think twice before leaving Gibbs unattended, especially by a solo linebacker, in the upcoming season.
