It wouldn’t be a Betty Tompkins show without a few NSFW images. This amazing feminist artist never fails to bring her opinions to the table.

This exhibition is split into three parts (three rooms).... Starting with ‘women words’ a series she’s been working on since 2002.

“Women Words. Inviting the public to send her their words and phrases about women, answers were sent back from all over the world and were shocking - but not surprising - exposing the corrosive, endemic misogyny in our world. “ - Elle Magazine

‘"WOMEN Words" was created to challenge the representation of female identity, the politics of pleasure and the role of sexuality in contemporary culture.’ - Betty Tompkins

Intertwined with 'Women Words' is the 'Apologia series'

“An ongoing project where Tompkins paints verbatim apologies issued in response to accusations of sexual violence or harassment against women onto art historical images that were either created by or which depict women." - P.P.O.W Press Release

The back room has a series of paintings done back in the late 1970s-1980’s around the fact a study showed high school students didn’t recognize legal documents such as the Constitution or the Bill of Rights.
