Naples | ItalyPezzi di Ricambio consists of two large installations. The first one is composed of a series of paintings displayed along the three front surfaces of the gallery, gathered to form a ‘quadreria’. The second series consists of paintings assembled in the shape of a car.
Daniel Knorr used a car wash converted into a "painting machine" for the first time at Art Basel Unlimited 2019 for his performance Laundry. As a large-scale instrument, it replaced the paintbrush and colored the car models assembled from canvases. The white, clean canvases were coated with wild splashes and streams of paint by the frantically spinning brushes and, after a trip or two through the car wash, were reminiscent of Action Paintings or the results of Modernist painting happenings.
