Congratulations to Laurie Anderson, who has been named one of the Recording Academy’s 2024 Lifetime Achievement Awards honorees. The award will be presented to Anderson and her fellow honorees—Gladys Knight, the Clark Sisters, N.W.A., and, posthumously, Donna Summer and Tammy Wynette—at the Special Merit Awards Ceremony in Los Angeles during GRAMMY Week, on February 3. "The Academy is honored to pay tribute to this year’s Special Merit Award recipients—a remarkable group of creators and industry professionals whose impact resonates with generations worldwide," said Harvey Mason jr., CEO of the Recording Academy. "Their contributions to music span genres, backgrounds, and crafts, reflecting the rich diversity that fuels our creative community."

Congratulations to Laurie Anderson, who has been named one of the Recording Academy’s 2024 Lifetime Achievement Awards honorees. The award will be presented to Anderson and her fellow honorees—Gladys Knight, the Clark Sisters, N.W.A., and, posthumously, Donna Summer and Tammy Wynette—at the Special Merit Awards Ceremony at the Wiltshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles during GRAMMY Week, on February 3. Anderson has been nominated for six GRAMMY Awards throughout her recording career and received the GRAMMY for Best Chamber Music / Small Ensemble Performance for her 2018 Nonesuch album Landfall in collaboration with Kronos Quartet. Also presented at the Special Merit Awards Ceremony will be the Trustees Awards, Technical GRAMMY Award, and Best Song for Social Change Award.

The Lifetime Achievement Award is presented by vote of the Recording Academy’s National Trustees to performers who, during their lifetimes, have made creative contributions of outstanding artistic significance to the field of recording. You can see the list of past recipients here.

Additionally, Nonesuch recordings have received eleven nominations for the 66th GRAMMY Awards: Thomas Adès's Dante, performed by Los Angeles Philharmonic and Gustavo Dudamel, up for Best Orchestral Performance and Best Contemporary Classical Composition, and the album's producer, Dmitriy Lipay, for Producer of the Year, Classical; Darcy James Argue's Secret Society for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album for Dynamic Maximum Tension; Julia Bullock for Best Classical Solo Vocal Album for Walking in the Dark; Rhiannon Giddens for Best Americana Album for You're the One and Best American Roots Performance for the album track "You Louisiana Man"; Cécile McLorin Salvant for Best Jazz Vocal Album for Mélusine and Best Arrangement, Instrumental and Vocals for the album track "Fenestra," arranged by Godwin Louis; Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway for Best Bluegrass Album for City of Gold; and The Blue Hour for Best Engineered Album, Classical. The 66th Grammy Awards will be broadcast from Los Angeles on CBS and Paramount+ on Sunday, February 4, beginning at 8pm ET. Prior to the telecast The Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony, at which many of the above categories will be announced, will stream live on grammy.com starting at 3:30pm ET.
