ParshipMeet Group’s ‘Heartquarter’: their headquarters situated in the heart of Hamburg.

For the latest installment of our Green Workplaces feature, we’re saying “moin” to Hamburg-based ParshipMeet Group, an office designed with love in mind.

ParshipMeet Group is a leading international company in dating and video. With their three matchmaking brands Parship, ElitePartner and eharmony, and five social dating apps LOVOO, MeetMe, Skout, Tagged, and GROWLr, they bring people together, be it for friendship, social dating or long-lasting relationships.  Their team of over 600 employees is facilitating over 2 billion connections per month. With Parship, their biggest brand in the German market, they are committed to “Healthy Dating”, a movement to create meaningful dating experiences full of appreciation and authenticity.

Last October ParshipMeet Group brought Plantclub into their newly renovated “Heartquarter”, their headquarters that happen to be situated in the heart of Hamburg, for a playful plant design concept matching the online dating company’s branding and overall ethos.

Claudia Wenta, Manager Group Projects, spoke to Plantclub about the company’s decision to bring plants into their design.

“We wanted the office to be functional, but also inviting; to be modern, but also cozy and relaxed. Hamburg itself is a green city, and we wanted to reflect this with our “new” and greener office.”

Ailsa MacKenzie, Plantclub Design Lead, worked with the office’s interior design elements to create a visual composition that emphasizes a concise, purposeful workplace. Instead of a typical indoor jungle feel, Ailsa used sizes, colors, and placement to make a cohesive indoor landscape complementing the natural material and colorscapes of gray, neutral tones, and selected vivid colors.

“Plantclub was first sent renderings of a design, but given a lot of freedom in terms of plant selection. They weren’t placed randomly in the planters, but rather with a patterned continuity, alternating between heights and sizes to create a clean and decisive look. Plants were also grouped together according to similar plant families and plant care needs in mind.”

An office’s design, especially post-COVID, makes a large contribution to employee wellness and overall retention. With many employees' preferences leaning toward hybrid work options, an office’s environment now plays a larger role in employee benefits and productivity. The ParshipMeet Group Hamburg Heartquarter has wooden integrated planters and wood-paneling seating in their common space, bringing in a variety of natural elements in a space that promotes human connection. On why plants, Claudia explains the importance of biophilic design in the workplace to ParshipMeet Group.

“Also, plants are a feel-good factor in the workplace and the desire for more greenery had been rising. So, in addition to a modern, bright and cozy design, we decided to integrate plants from Plantclub. We wanted plants to be present in such a way that every employee had a piece of greenery right next to them, thus making everyone feel comfortable in the office.”

Plantclub’s design brought in some larger pieces to accent the Scandinavian-inspired open-plan interior, but also small sprawling plants were positioned next to the desks to keep that personalized, cozy feeling.

As for employee reactions, we checked in with Claudia after the installation to gain some insight on team responses which have been summed up as the “icing on the cake of the new Hamburg office.”

“In general, there is just a lot of contentment. Green as a color of harmony perfectly reflects ParshipMeet Group’s mood and working atmosphere, which is why everyone thinks that the plants fit so well. They complete our remodeling process, and we are glad that the sight makes our colleagues happy every day. For us, the office and the greenery are a perfect match for a long-term relationship.”
