Modern Art, London

The Collection of David Teiger (acquired from the above in September 2002)

Tim Noble and Sue Webster are London-based artists whose work combines assemblage, light, shadow and humor. They work primarily in sculpture and installation. The duo’s practice can be loosely divided between their ‘Light Works’ and ‘Shadow Works’. The ‘Light Works’ often take the form of neon sculptures. Meanwhile, the ‘Shadow Works’ incorporate diverse materials including household rubbish and scrap metal on which light is shone, transforming these assemblages into highly accurate shadows, oftentimes of the artists’ profiles. In Little Peter, a cartoonish mannequin is seemingly caught in the midst of painting a wall. A motor within the mannequin allows for him to gyrate in position, accentuating his sense of mischievousness.
