V Srinivas Prasad of Bharatiya Janata Party has won the Chamarajanagar  seat by an extremely short margin of 1817 votes. He has beaten the sitting MP, R Dhruvanarayana of the Congress.

V Srinivas Prasad of Bharatiya Janata Party has won the Chamarajanagar  seat by an extremely short margin of 1817 votes. He has beaten the sitting MP, R Dhruvanarayana of the Congress.

Chamarajanagar Election Results 2019 @ 12:38 pm: R Dhruvanarayana of the Congress is leading against V Srinivas Prasad of Bharatiya Janata Party by over 11,000 votes. Dhruvanarayana is the sitting MP from the constituency.

The Chamarajanagar Lok Sabha seat in Karnataka went to polls on April 18. The constituency was formed in 1962. The seat is reserved for the candidates of Scheduled Caste category. The total number of electorate in the constituency is 14,33,825, out of which 7,30,258 are men and 7,03,567 are women.

Chamarajanagar is one of the 28 Lok Sabha seats in the state in the lower house of Parliament. The constituency is divided into eight Assembly segments, out of which four are reserved for the candidates of the Scheduled Caste category.

The Congress fielded R Dhruvanarayana for the seat while Srinivasa Prasad represented the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the constituency. In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, R Dhruvanarayana defeated his BJP rival AR Krishnamurthy by a margin of 1,41,182 or 12.5 per cent votes. 

In the Assembly elections held in Karnataka of May 2018, no single party could get a majority and Congress and the Janata Dal (Secular) decided to join hands to form the government in the state. The BJP toiled hard to cobble together the numbers but failed to do so.

In 2014 general elections, BJP had secured 17 seats in the state, while the Congress could only manage nine and the Janata Dal Secular was reduced to just two.

Chamarajanagar along with 13 other seats in the state went to polls in the second phase of the general elections on April 18.

The Lok Sabha elections are being held in seven phases and the results will be out on May 23.
