With only acrylic paint and stencils, Brazilian fine artist Monica Nador has spent years transforming slums on the outskirts of Sao Paolo into vibrant works of art. Her colorful, graphic motifs that sweep the walls of favelas have brought new life and optimism to the downtrodden communities. Now, nine years after founding Jardim Miriam Arte Clube (JAMAC), a nonprofit working to better communities through art and craftmaking, Nador’s pieces will expand onto a wider canvas, with the launch of a collaboration with Anthropologie. The same elevated graffiti patterns on the façades of homes half way across the world will be available as an eclectic collection of printed Cocovado Beach Towels, just in time for the summer months. To coincide with the April 25 launch, Anthropologie’s Rockefeller Center store gallery will host the exhibition “Fora De Portas” (“out of doors” in Portuguese), and showcase large silk pieces stenciled with Nador’s intricate designs and original acrylic work plastering a wall in the space.

Monica Nador for Anthropologie Cocovado Beach Towels, $78 each; available April 25, anthropologie.com.

“Fora De Portas” will be on view from April 25 through June 18 at 50 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City.
